The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International



The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International , founded in Austin, Texas, in 1929, is an educational, honorary, professional, and international society.


Alpha Phi State, West Virginia, was organized at Charleston on November 1, 1941 by Dr. Maycie K. Southall.

Tau Chapter, with teachers from Kanawha and Putnam counties, was chartered on March 31, 1964, at Anne Bailey School in St. Albans, by Alpha Phi State President and Organizer, Emma Neal Boggess and State Expansion Chairman, Garnette Reid.


Tau Chapter holds meetings in September, October, November, March and April.  Tau also participates in the Holiday Luncheon and Founders' Day Luncheon in conjunction with three other chapters.

International theme: "85 Years and Beyond:  Advancing Key Women Educators for Life"

State theme: 
"Make it Happen, Make a Difference"
